Topstep’s $250K Freedom Trading Combine is not available for a new purchase as of July 27, 2026. The official Topstep Labs page displays 0 accounts available, “The Experiment Has Ended,” “Lab Is Closed,” and “Capacity: Full.”
The separate Topstep Labs help article still documents the $250K program and says purchases depend on spots remaining. That article is useful for existing buyers, but it should not be treated as proof that the offer is open. New shoppers should wait for a new official Labs release instead of using an old purchase link or cached promotion.
Existing $250K buyers should save the rules accepted at checkout, their dashboard terms, and any support confirmation. Topstep’s current public pages agree on most evaluation economics but use conflicting language for the Express Funded payout path and the eventual Live risk limits.
01. What to do now
- Do not describe or rank the $250K Freedom account as currently purchasable. The live Labs page says the drop is closed.
- If you already bought it, keep the cohort-specific contract and dashboard rules. Limited experiments can differ from Topstep’s standard 50K, 100K, and 150K products.
- Get written clarification before a payout request or Live transition. The public Labs landing page and help center do not present those stages consistently.
- Do not assume $250K buying power becomes a $250K live account. The official help article says the eventual Live stage is handled as a $150K tier, while Topstep’s general Live rules also calculate size from eligible Express Funded Accounts.
02. The $250K Freedom terms Topstep published
The table below preserves the public terms for buyers who obtained the limited drop. It is not an availability table.
| Stage | Published structure | What is clear | What still needs cohort verification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trading Combine | Simulated evaluation | $250,000 buying power; $15,000 profit target; 50% consistency target; $10,000 trailing Maximum Loss Limit; mandatory $5,000 Daily Loss Limit; 25 mini or 250 micro maximum; $499 one-time fee; no subscription; 90-day expiration; no resets; no funded activation fee | Exact purchase timestamp and the terms accepted at checkout |
| Express Funded Account | Simulated funded stage | $25,000 per-request payout cap; $10,000 Maximum Loss Limit; the MLL moves to $0 after the first payout; position scaling begins below $1,500 and reaches 25 lots above $8,000 | The landing page uses both “Express Funded Consistency” and “Option 1: Standard,” while the help article labels the path Standard; the landing page also publishes a special five-day, $1,000-winning-day requirement |
| Live Funded Account | Real-capital stage available only after Topstep’s call-up process | The Labs help article says the account follows Topstep’s standard Live framework and is treated as a $150K tier rather than a $250K tier | The Labs table shows a $10,000 minimum starting balance, $5,000 DLL, and 25-mini maximum, while the general Live rules show account averaging and a standard $4,500 DLL for a $150K tier |
Evaluation stage: one payment, no reset
The closed offer’s purchase structure differed from Topstep’s standard monthly Trading Combines. Topstep published a $499 one-time charge, a 90-day expiration, no recurring subscription, no reset, and no Express Funded activation fee.
That makes the 90-day clock important for existing buyers. A breach cannot be repaired with a paid reset under the public Labs terms, and an account that has not passed by its expiration closes. The $499 price is historical/current-account context, not a live offer.
Risk limits: large buying power does not remove the daily stop
The $250K evaluation paired a $10,000 trailing Maximum Loss Limit with a mandatory $5,000 Daily Loss Limit. The MLL is the hard account floor. Topstep’s Maximum Loss Limit explanation says the standard trailing MLL rises with end-of-day balance, never moves down, and is enforced against realized and unrealized P&L in real time.
The DLL is a separate session control. For this Labs product it was mandatory rather than an optional checkout setting. A trader could therefore be stopped for the session before reaching the larger total-loss boundary.
03. The payout-path wording needs confirmation
The official Labs sources do not describe the $250K Express Funded path with one clean label:
- The Labs help article lists the funded Path as Standard and the per-request cap as $25,000.
- The Labs landing page says traders should follow Express Funded Consistency, then labels the displayed path Option 1: Standard.
- The same landing page says Standard requires five $1,000 winning trading days and maintaining the balance between payouts.
- Topstep’s general payout policy describes the regular Standard path as five winning days of at least $150, but it does not publish a $250K row.
The product-specific $1,000 figure should not be replaced with the general $150 threshold. Existing buyers should follow their dashboard and accepted agreement, then ask Topstep support to confirm the exact path, qualifying-day threshold, consistency test, and payout-cycle reset in writing.
The $25,000 maximum per payout is consistent across the current Labs landing page and help article. It is a cap, not an automatic withdrawal amount.
04. The $250K label does not carry into Live unchanged
The evaluation’s $250,000 figure describes buying power in the simulated Trading Combine. The Express Funded stage is also a simulated funded account under Topstep’s current program structure.
Topstep’s Labs help article says a Freedom account called to Live is treated as a $150K Live Funded Account. It also says all active eligible Express Funded Accounts, including Labs accounts, can affect the Live-size calculation.
The current Live Funded Account parameters say Live size is based on an average of eligible Express Funded Accounts and is rounded to a 50K, 100K, or 150K tier. They publish a standard $4,500 starting DLL for the 150K tier, while the Labs parameter table publishes a $5,000 DLL for the Freedom path.
That conflict matters only to traders who reach the Live call-up, but it is material. ComparePropFirms should not normalize one number into the Topstep review until Topstep confirms whether the Labs-specific $5,000 DLL overrides the general $4,500 tier or whether the general Live framework controls.
05. What the earlier $25K Static drop tells us
Topstep lists the $25K Static Trading Combine as the first Labs experiment, launched in June 2026. The help article says it used a $75 one-time fee, a $1,000 static Maximum Loss Limit, a mandatory $500 DLL, a 90-day expiration, no resets, and no activation fee.
That offer is also no longer available. Its value here is historical: Labs products are intentionally limited, and Topstep says a product may disappear without graduating into the standard lineup. A finished experiment should remain in a dated change log, not in a current-product ranking.
06. What ComparePropFirms should change
The evergreen Topstep review currently covers only the standard 50K, 100K, and 150K purchase paths. That is safer than silently inserting a closed Labs offer, but the review should receive a dated note explaining that the $25K Static and $250K Freedom experiments were limited and are not current buying options.
The real cost of a $50K evaluation should keep its standard-product model unchanged. The $499 Labs price belongs in a dated sidebar or change log, not in the normalized 50K comparison.
The drawdown guide can use the $25K Static experiment as a clearly historical example after its scheduled source refresh. The payout guide should not add a $25,000 Topstep cap until the $250K path label and winning-day rule are reconciled for existing buyers.
