The practical answer: choose Tradeify when you want a one-time purchase, several account paths, and broader platform choice. Choose Topstep when you want one standardized monthly evaluation, TopstepX's integrated workflow, and a clearly documented Express-to-Live progression. At 50K, Tradeify Select is the cleaner fit for traders who want no evaluation daily loss limit and a choice between Flex and Daily payouts after passing. Topstep is the cleaner fit for traders who want a lower first-month entry and are comfortable with recurring billing plus either a $149 activation fee or a higher no-activation monthly price.

Neither firm is the universal winner. Tradeify's choices add decision complexity, and its funded rules vary by plan. Topstep's funnel is simpler, but new buyers are tied to TopstepX and equity-index traders face a platform-enforced CPI entry restriction beginning August 12.

The biggest difference is the purchase model

Tradeify sells current Growth, Select, and Lightning accounts as one-time purchases. Growth and Select are evaluations with paid resets available after failure. Lightning skips evaluation and begins in a simulated funded account, but it has no reset: a failed Lightning account requires a replacement purchase.

Topstep's Trading Combine is a monthly subscription that rebills every 30 days until the trader passes, cancels, or otherwise ends the account. The Standard 50K path is $49 per month and charges $149 when an earned Express Funded Account is activated. The 50K No Activation Fee path is $95 per month and removes that post-pass fee. Topstep says the payment path cannot be changed after purchase.

A one-attempt comparison favors Topstep's lower initial price. A total-cost comparison depends on attempts:

  • One 50K Topstep Standard month plus activation totals $198 before taxes and trading fees.
  • Two Standard months plus activation total $247.
  • One 50K Topstep No Activation Fee month totals $95; two total $190.
  • Tradeify Select 50K lists at $165 one time; a failure can add a $95 reset.
  • Tradeify Growth 50K lists at $145 one time; a failure can add a $95 reset.

These examples exclude promotions, commissions, optional tools, taxes, and later replacement or reactivation costs. They show why “$49 versus $165” is not the full decision.

Compare the 50K evaluation rules

Tradeify Growth and Select both publish a $3,000 target and $2,000 end-of-day trailing drawdown at 50K. Growth has a $1,250 daily loss limit but no evaluation consistency rule and can pass in one trading day. Select has no evaluation daily loss limit, uses a 40% best-day consistency requirement, and therefore needs at least three days mathematically.

Topstep's 50K Trading Combine also publishes a $3,000 target and $2,000 Maximum Loss Limit. Its only labeled failure rule is not hitting or falling below that limit. The Combine also has two objectives: reach the target and keep the best day below 50% of the target, or the target increases. The normal position limit is five minis or 50 micros.

The drawdown labels need careful reading. Tradeify and Topstep both use end-of-day balance information to move the threshold, but neither lets a trader ignore the active floor intraday. The already-established threshold is enforced while the market is open.

Funded payout paths are choices, not one firm-wide number

Tradeify Select makes its most consequential choice after the evaluation. Select Flex has no funded daily loss limit or consistency rule and requires five winning days. At 50K, each winning day must earn at least $150, and a request can be up to 50% of total profit with a $3,000 cap. Select Daily adds a $1,000 daily loss limit and $2,100 buffer at 50K; it offers daily eligibility, a $250 minimum, and a cap of two times cycle profit up to $1,000.

Topstep makes the XFA payout choice at activation. XFA Standard requires five winning days of at least $150 and has no best-day consistency target; the 50K cap is $2,000. XFA Consistency requires three trading days and a 40% best-day ratio; the 50K cap is $3,000. Both paths currently allow a request for up to 50% of the account balance, use a $125 minimum, and apply the 90/10 split. Adding Topstep's optional daily loss limit at checkout raises the published XFA caps, but it also adds a daily risk control.

“Daily,” “three days,” and “five winning days” describe eligibility structures, not guaranteed bank-settlement time. Each firm retains review and payout-processing controls.

Platform fit can decide the comparison

Tradeify asks the buyer to select a broker connection at checkout:

  • Tradovate credentials support Tradovate, NinjaTrader, and TradingView.
  • Rithmic credentials support Tradesea, Quantower, Sierra Chart, and R|Trader.
  • WealthCharts credentials work only with WealthCharts.

Tradeify says all three broker choices have the same account price, but a buyer cannot later switch between broker connections without purchasing a new account.

Topstep says TopstepX is the only available platform for new participants. It combines execution, risk tools, account statistics, journaling, alerts, and an internal trade copier. Quantower can connect using TopstepX credentials for Trading Combines and XFAs, but TopstepX does not connect directly to TradingView and the copier does not operate on Live Funded Accounts.

Choose the platform before the firm. A trader whose workflow depends on TradingView execution, NinjaTrader, Sierra Chart, or a Rithmic connection has a stronger reason to prefer Tradeify. A trader who wants an integrated browser platform, dashboard metrics, and native account copying may prefer TopstepX.

Live capital is possible, not automatic

Tradeify's Sim Funded accounts use a 90/10 split. Its Elite program says a trader becomes eligible for consideration after three payouts on one account or 10 total payouts since the last live transition. Those milestones do not guarantee a move. Elite Live uses an 80/20 split, and Tradeify may transition a trader based on its review.

Topstep's XFA is also simulated. Its Risk Team decides when a trader is called into a Live Funded Account using the full trading profile, including consistency, risk, position sizing, products, stops, payout history, and overall behavior. The LFA uses real firm capital and removes XFA payout caps, but only one LFA may be active and all XFAs close at call-up.

The useful comparison is not “which says live?” Both do. The question is whether the documented selection model, funded-stage economics, platform, and live-account rules fit the trader before a discretionary transition occurs.

Topstep's CPI restriction matters for index traders

Topstep's current high-volatility page says that during the August 12 CPI window, new equity-index mini openings will be blocked and micro openings capped by account size in simulated Trading Combines and XFAs. Existing positions may remain open, and the restriction does not apply to non-equity products. The announced window is 7:25–7:35 a.m. Central, around the 7:30 release.

This does not add a second labeled account-failure rule. It does change what an active account can open during a scheduled event. A trader who routinely trades ES, NQ, RTY, or YM around CPI should treat that as a material workflow difference and verify the exact platform limit for the account before the window.

Choose Tradeify when

  • you want a one-time purchase rather than recurring evaluation billing;
  • you want to choose among Growth, Select, and direct-to-simulated-funded Lightning;
  • you need Tradovate, TradingView, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, Sierra Chart, Quantower, or WealthCharts compatibility;
  • Select's post-pass Flex-versus-Daily choice matches how you withdraw; or
  • you want a no-consistency Growth evaluation and accept its daily loss limit.

Choose Topstep when

  • you want the lowest current 50K first-month list price;
  • you prefer one standardized evaluation and an integrated TopstepX workflow;
  • XFA Standard's five-winning-day path or XFA Consistency's three-day path fits your payout plan;
  • the documented XFA-to-Live process is a priority; or
  • you accept monthly rebilling and the current TopstepX and event-specific operating limits.

The bottom line

Tradeify wins on product and platform choice. Topstep wins on a simpler funnel and lower initial 50K list price. The cost winner changes with the number of attempts and the activation path. The payout winner changes with the selected funded policy.

For a 50K trader who wants no evaluation daily loss limit and broad platform choice, Tradeify Select is the stronger default. For a trader who wants one evaluation, TopstepX, and a documented Live Funded Account ladder, Topstep is the stronger default. Model the entire path before buying: entry, reset or rebill, activation, funded risk, payout eligibility, and platform restrictions.
